I was going through blogs on racist attacks in Australia. I came across some really funny comments. If Indians speaks this kind of English, nobody can resist attacking them :-). Some of the comments are given below:
" it is too tha govt of india must replay to this event "
" Its really rediculous for the australians as the main income of thier economy coming from Indian students. They should get enough security and the out politicians should pressure them to stop racism in Indians. "
"IT IS STOPED AT THE EARLIEST. STUDENTS GET PEACEFUL ATMOSPHERE TO STUDY THERE."
"WE ARE NOT A SLAVE.DECLARE A WAR AGAINST THE AUSTRALIA AND SHOW THE INDIAN POWER"
"WE SHOULD TAKE STRONGLY AGAINST DIRTY AUSRALIA"
Some of the comments are by Indians living in Australia. If you speak this English, your fellow Indians themselves may attack you. :-)
The attack on Indian students in Australia is a hot topic of discussion now a days. There is no doubt that Aussies are racists and they hate all non aussies, especially Indians. But its not just Aussies who hate Indians. I have seen many other foreigners who hate Indians as well.
One of the reasons why other nationalities hate us is the feeling that we are taking away their jobs. Indians are good workers and they are ready to work for a relatively low salary which help them to steal jobs. There is no remedy for this and the hate game will continue in this case. Also there are cases where whites just hate brown skinned people. Again, there is no remedy for this.
When we are outside India, we are like ambassadors of the country. We should behave in such a way that people love India or at least not hate it. Some things we could do (or we should do) when we are outside India are given below:
1.Respect Local Culture: Like different Indian states many countries are struggling to preserve their language and culture. We need to cooperate with them by trying to learn their language and live their way of life. Learn the moral and social values of the society and live accordingly. Speaking their language, eating their food and celebrating their festivals are the best way to do it.
2. Do Not Boast About India, Indians and Indian Culture: India indeed is a rising super power. But we need to travel a long way to achieve that status and never ever boast about India and Indians. If you want them to know the virtues of an Indian, show it in your work, studies and behavior.
3. Make Non Indian Friends: Indians do have a tendency to create small India where ever they go. They will find other Indians and do all that they used to do in India or they just create a small India in other countries. This should be avoided to maximum possible extent. There will be local guys who are open minded and interested in friendship with us. Mingle with them and enjoy the local life.
4. Be Careful About 'Smell': 'Smell' is a common complaint against Indians. Our food is very spicy and foreigners who are used to less spicy foods cannot stand its smell. Try to avoid cooking / eating spicy Indian foods in public places. Do not open your 'Thaali' parcel in a crowded park. Our body odour change according the food we eat. So be careful to use proper perfumes so that others could come near to you.
5. Dress Sensibly: Dress according to the local culture. Western cloths are convenient and accepted at most places in the world. So please use them. If you are using ethnic cloths, use simple looking, good quality cloths.
6. Cleanliness: In India, we have an open license to throw our garbage anywhere we like. This is not the case with many other countries. Littering should be strictly avoided. (This should be avoided even in India)
We should always remember that foreigners judge India by observing our actions. Let us be gentle, polite, co operative, accommodative and adaptive when we are in a foreign land. If we behave properly, definitely we could create a positive image about India in a foreigner's mind.
The decisive victory of Manmohan Singh made me happy. People voted for development based on national unity and secularism as against region and religion based politics.
The fall of BJP was unavoidable as India's young voters are least interested in things like building Ram Temple at Ayodhya. If you read Ramayana, even Ram never visited temple. It is 'Kaliyuga' which linked gods with temples. If BJP want to establish a 'Ram Rajya', building a temple should not be in their list since there were no temples in the real 'Ram Rajya' of 'Threthayuga'.
Advani tried to portray Manmohan as a 'weak prime minister' where as BJP itself failed to take a firm stand against terrorism. We can never forget release of the terrorist Moulana Masood Azhar. Also, when the whole world is going forward, the organizations like Sri Ram Sena are trying to take India backward and they are amply supported by BJP.
It is argued by many that Manmohan is a just a puppet prime minister controlled by Sonia Gandhi. If we look around, family based politics is very common in South Asia. Can we see a single country where a family based party who won the elections appointed a prime minister from outside the family? Why should Sonia make Manmohan a puppet? She can become the Prime Minister
Congress rule is far from perfect. But we have no better choice. If BJP want to come to power in future, it need to change its policies and make it more development oriented. It should realize that India is country for all religions and temples, mosques etc. should stay as it was when India got independence.
Congratulations go Manmohan and to the people who for their firm 'NO' to 'Region' and 'Religion' based politics. Jai Hind.
Thousands of years ago three great people had a meeting at Indraprastha. The persons present were Krishna, Dharmaputra (aka Yudhishtira) and Maha Bali (aka Bali Maharaj). Bali came there as requested by Krishna to meet the most righteous king Dharmaputra. The conversation between them went as given below:
Dharmaputra: Welcome Mr.Bali.I have heard a lot about you. It's my privilege to meet you. How are you Krishna? Thanks for bringing Bali with you.
Bali: Thanks for the kind words. I heard that you are the most righteous king, Dharmaputra. Long ago, I used to rule this place and I would really love see the developments here.
Krishna: Don't worry Mr.Bali. Dharmaputra is taking care of your kingdom very well, especially the poor citizens. He does a lot of charity and provides free food and clothes to hundreds of poor people daily.
Dharmaputra: (In a humble tone) It’s all your blessings Krishna. Mr.Bali, you look disturbed. Are you not well?
Bali: (In a disappointed tone) Mr.Dharmaputra, you destroyed my beautiful kingdom. When I ruled, it was a prosperous country and not single person was there to accept charity. Every family was self reliant. It's really shocking to hear about hundreds of poor people accepting charity. Krishna, I can't stand it any more. Please allow me to leave.
This story came to my mind when I read BJP's election manifesto (I did not read Congress manifesto. I lost hope in them long ago). One of their major promises is to provide rice and wheat to poor families at the rate of Rs.2 per Kg. In Tamil Nadu and Andhra, just about every political party promises Rice at Rs.2 per kg in every election.
What we need today is not subsidy to BPL families or more reservation for backward communities. What we need is steps to make all the people self reliant so that subsidies, reservations etc. are not required. I have no idea about 'Ram Rajya' since I stopped reading Ramayana at the chapter where Rama was crowned as king after coming back from Lanka. But I could say for sure that what we need today is 'Bali Rajya'. Can any of the parties promise that?
Shoe hurl - this innovative way of protesting was introduced by an Iraqi journalist Muntadar Al Saidi by throwing shoes at none other than George Bush. He became an instant hero in the Arab World. An Egyptian man gave him the most precious gift. His 20 year old daughter, who was more than willing to marry Muntadar.
Akali Dal announced a gift of Rs.200,000 to Jurnail Singh, the journalist who hurled shoe at Chidambaram. We will wait and see whether he will get a 'Punjabi Kudi' as additional incentive.
The shoe thrown at George Bush was manufactured by Istambul based Baydan Shoe Company who recorded more than 500% increase in their sales after the incident and they hired 100 employees to meet the demand. The 'Model-271' shoe was later renamed as 'Bye Bye Bush'. Whether Jurnail Singh's act was sponsored by any Shoe Brand is yet to be known.
Majority of Indians does not agree with CBI's act of giving clean chit to Jagdish Tytler. But this barbaric way of protest is a shame to Indian journalists and will only help to boost the 'Slumdog Image' of India abroad. Any foreign dignitary will think twice before attending a press conference in India. In any case you could expect a board in front of press conference halls in future. "Please leave your footwear outside"
